Roster List Divisions Ranking System
City Council: The Gray Corps' City Council consists of commanders appointed by Tanelorn's current mayor, Raven. The Council is responsible for overall operation of the city, alliances, declarations and other formalities to keep the Corps and the City functioning optimally. The Council also serves to resolve internal disputes. Membership within the council is by appointment only, and members are selected from the best candidates from each regiment. Dragon Riders: The Corps' Dragon Riders division consists of those members who have trained and mastered the arts of dragon taming. The following minimum requirements for full membership to this division:
Minstrels of the Dawn: The Gray Corps' Minstrels weave spells with their music, and have the ability to calm savage beasts as well as to incite murderous rage. The Minstrels also serve to entertain and keep the lore of the City. The following minimum requirements apply for membership to this division:
Knights of the Balance: The Dragon Knights comprise the Corps' warriors, who excel at armed combat with the bow, mace, sword and spear. The minimum requirements for joining this division:
Spellbinders: The Corps' Spellbinders, whether decedents of Melnibonéan nobility, spiritual healers or Britannian sorcerors, are well-versed in all matters of the arcane. Emperor Elric VIII, the Albino Emperor, is the most powerful Melnibonéan sorcerer and, it is rumored, that his power is such that he is able to summon forth Lord Arioch himself to take form upon the material planes. The minimum requirements for joining this division as a full member:
Artisans of Tanelorn: The Gray Corps' Artisans are the lifeblood of the city, crafting fine wares for sale and trade with the denizens within Tanelorn and the rest of Britannia. Artisans will be assigned duties and quotas on a periodic basis including, but not limited to, gathering of raw materials for crafting, crafting equipment for the Gray Corps, repairing equipment and ensuring that the various base camps used by the Gray Corps during campaigns remain stocked.
Citizens of Tanelorn: Tanelorn's citizens are the those who have chosen to live the life of Balance, siding with neither good nor evil, Chaos or Law. Tanelorn's denizens range from poets to musicians to adventurers, but are not members of the Corps. Citizens enjoy the protection of the Corps while in the City, but retain no other benefits of Corps membership. In times of need, the Corps may call upon citizens to take up arms in defense of the City, or contribute to the city treasury.
Gray Corps rankings are determined primarily by character skill in the skills required for that division. The basic rankings are as follows:
* Ranks beyond tier 1 are provided only to full members of the Gray Corps after the probationary period. Regardless of skill, all new initiates to the Corps receive tier 1 titles until successful completion of the probationary period. ** Members of each division who reach 99.9 magery (locked) are considered to have achieved Grandmaster status in the skill, understanding that some prefer having 99.9 magery for strategic combat reasons. *** Indicates regiment leader, reporting to the City Council. By way of example, a mage character with 85.0 real skill (not displayed) in magery, evaluating intelligence, wrestling and meditation would receive the rank of Conjurer. A mage with Grandmaster skill or better in all four would hold the rank of Sorcerer. A warrior with 95.0 real skill in weapons and tactics and 89 magery would hold the rank of Protector. A warrior with Grandmaster weapon skill and tactics, and 99.9 locked magery would hold the title of Avenger. There is one exception to this general rule for rankings, and that exception applies to those with beyond Grandmaster skill in one or more disciplines associated with his or her regiment: Those who have achieved beyond Grandmaster status in one or more skills may apply any points above Grandmaster to any other skill required by that division for purposes of determining rank. For example, a spellbinder with Grandmaster magery and meditation, Legendary evaluating intelligence and 80 resist would still receive the rank of Sorcerer and not Conjurer. Given that the Corps does not outline other specific required skills for each regiment or division, other skills are left to the discretion of the member. However, recognition and token compensation will be given to members who achieve mastery (90.0+ real skill) in the following skill disciplines or discipline combinations:
Under special circumstances, the Council may bestow other, special, ranks or titles to members at the Council's sole discretion. There shall be only one person at a time holding the highest ranking within each division or regiment, and this person serves as the leader in the division, reporting directly to the City Council. To be eligible for promotion to the highest rank, a member must first have obtained the immediate preceding rank and hold that position for two full weeks. At that time, the member may issue a challenge to the current regiment leader, where the following rules apply:
Challenges for duels may be made by a qualifying member once per month only. As such, those of the highest rank who are defeated by a challenger may issue a challenge to be met one month from the day of the defeat, and must pay the 10,000 gold tithe to the City Treasury.
